Indonesia won the inaugural Division One FIFA ASEAN Cup after a 2-2 draw with Thailand and a 4-2 penalty-shootout victory at Gelora Bung Karno.
Indonesia lifted the Division One FIFA ASEAN Cup after a dramatic final with Thailand that finished 2-2 before the hosts won the penalty shootout 4-2.
What happened
The ASEAN Football Federation reports that Dean James put Indonesia ahead in the 84th minute before Iklas Sanron equalised three minutes later. Thailand then moved 2-1 ahead in extra time through Peeradol Chamratsamee, but Elkan Baggott scored in the 116th minute to force penalties.
Indonesia won the shootout 4-2. The AFF also notes that Thailand had been reduced to ten men after Nicholas Mickelson received a second yellow card late in regulation. The result made Indonesia champions of the first Division One FIFA ASEAN Cup.
